LLOYD WRIGHT’S WAYFARERS CHAPEL GROUP
by Kathryn Smith
:: DOUBLE-SIZED ISSUE :: 80 pages :: with over 70 images
Wayfarers Chapel Group (Chapel, Campanile, Cloisters, Cloisters Garden, and Community House) is Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece. It was Lloyd Wright both as an architect and landscape architect, who integrated all the parts into a harmonious composition. His purpose was to convey the spiritual dimension of Nature. Dating from 1947-57, it was not until 2024 that catastrophic seismic activity forced its removal from the original site. While photographs – mainly of the glass chapel interior – have made the Wayfarers Chapel known around the world, no one has ever revealed the design process that led the architect to create such astonishingly original buildings and gardens.
This landmark publication, written by celebrated author and historian Kathryn Smith, features newly discovered research accompanied by never-before-published photos and drawings—making it the quintessential publication on this iconic work of organic architecture.
